Buying a vehicle upfit should be the easy part of your job. Whether you manage a fleet for a county, a city, a state or federal agency, or a construction company, here is exactly how a purchase works with us, who typically has to sign off on your side, and what to have ready so your vehicles get on the road faster.

Ways to buy from us today

Direct purchase order or quote

The simplest path. Call us with the year, make, and model of the vehicle, or better yet, bring the truck to us, and we quote it directly. We begin the build as soon as we have a signed PO.

Through our leasing partners

We work with Enterprise and Mobile Lease, so agencies that lease their fleets can have upfitting handled inside that relationship.

Through SAM.gov

Federal and federally funded purchases can run through SAM.gov.

We can source the vehicle too

If you need the truck itself, we help agencies source vehicles, including pre-wired PPVs that arrive ready for a faster, cleaner install.

Who signs off (so your purchase doesn't stall)

Every entity approves purchases differently, and knowing your own approval chain up front is the single best way to keep a project moving.

Counties

The sheriff and chief deputy typically make the call, but funding usually still goes through Commissioners Court.

Cities

A fleet manager runs the purchase, with final approval through city council.

Emergency management offices

The department makes the operational decision, while the county's Commissioners Court approves the funding.

We work inside these processes every week, and we'll help you navigate yours.

Funding timelines to plan around

60 to 90 days Grant funded builds
Up to 120 days Counties on fixed pay cycles
Under 30 days Smaller cities moving fast

Where your money comes from sets your timeline. Grant-funded builds run on the grant's own cycle, usually 60 to 90 days. Some counties operate on fixed pay cycles regardless of the project, sometimes as long as 120 days. Smaller cities can move fast; we've seen a vehicle picked up and the invoice paid in under 30 days. Whatever the funding source, our build starts when the signed PO is in hand, so the sooner the paperwork clears on your side, the sooner your vehicle is in our shop.

A lot of what slows a purchase down isn't us, it's that most fleet managers don't actually know what they need, and figuring that out takes real conversation.

What to have ready before you call

Three things make your first conversation with us productive:

  1. The vehicle's year, make, and model
  2. A rough sense of what you need the vehicle to do (we'll handle the technical spec)
  3. Clarity on who signs off and where the funding comes from

That's it. Our team walks you through the equipment options from there.

Why fleets buy from us

The field-ready standard

Every joint soldered, wiring loomed and grommeted, a phased 40-to-50-point quality control checklist, and a sustained light and sound test before the shop foreman releases the vehicle. One-year guarantee on the work and the products.

Warranty service that comes to you

If something needs warranty attention anywhere in Texas, we go to the vehicle, not the other way around.

Two shops, real coverage

San Antonio and Victoria give us reach across South and Central Texas, and agencies farther out drop-ship vehicles to us like they would with any upfitter.

One invoice for upfitting and graphics

The Wrap Guys is our in-house wraps division, so lighting, equipment, and fleet graphics can run under a single purchase order instead of bouncing between vendors. Wrap production for agency vehicles runs through our Victoria facility.
